Scam Details

I received a pre-recorded phone message on my handphone at about 1 pm on 27 Aug, saying I have a case with the high court which is unresolved.
I have a parking offense which the payment was recently overdue and immediately I thought it was linked to that incident. I was instructed to press a single digit number for more enquiries, which I did. My call was directed to a so-called Chinese-Speaking section whereby a man spoke in Mandarin and asked for my name in English and IC number to “check” what my case is. I gave both and was told a lady by the name of Lin Yingwas recently detained in China and found with a great number of cards on her. One of the cards (UOB) was applied on July using my IC. After a while I got suspicious and said I would check with the bank. The man questioned why I needed to check with the bank. I asked him for a number to call back the “High Court” and
Was given the number 6336 0644. By this time I was convinced it was a scam and slammed the phone.
I checked with UOB. Nothing had recently been applied for on my name.
